What this spec will do is allow you to deal max DPS, and not use much mana, meaning less time drinking. Keep in mind, this mage leveling guide will assume you are using this spec from now on.

With a mage, you will want to get a wand as soon as possible. Depending on your level, you will want to figure out what is least expensive and use it. You will probably want to open with Fireball then use Frostbolt until the enemy reaches you. Then finish them off with the wand. If the enemy is in good health when it reaches you then use Frost Nova and run a few feet away and start over.

Here are a few tips to get started with your mage!

Be sure to play smart. Use your mouse, not the keys. This allows the mage to kite effectively which you must be able to do to stay alive.

Upgrade your gear. You want Spellpower, Hit, and Intelligence when leveling with a mage. at lower levels, you will mostly get Intelligence. Try for the others too though.

Keep your rest experience up by taking breaks. Hearth and log out and in every time you take a break.

Don’t visit the Auction House in person. Keep an alt parked in a major city and mail everything back and forth. This will save you countless hours of time.

Follow this mage leveling guide and you should have a level 80 mage in no time!
