Mage Leveling Guide – Level 1 to 20
When you first start a new WoW game you should get the hang of gaming with a mage during the first maybe 10 levels. Experiment using a mage character and get a feel for the mage.
You will want to start building your talent tree when you reach level 10. You can review our Mage Talent Builds to get some ideas.
Levels 10 to 20
When you get to level 10 a brand new spell is available, Frost Nova. This spell is awesome because you can get a bunch of new spells. This is also the point where you can do your first mage quest.
The other big change in the game is that when you get to level 10 you start talent points. You can choose to increase your talents in Fire, Frost, and Arcane for every level from here on. What you’ll want to do is test each of these to see which one suits your style of play best. Fire is good for huge damage to enemies. Arcane increases utility. Frost lets you have superior control.
When you reach level 15 you get to do your second quest as a Mage. You will obtain a very cool set of robes for your new Mage to wear.
At level 16 you will see a pretty sweet AoE spell, Flamestrike. This is cool because you don’t have to be very close to your enemy in order to use it.
Level 1 through 20 are generally very fun and a good learning experience. Enjoy them while you can as they are simple and fun.
